This is why I can barely lay down or sit up today. My rib cage feels like it is in a vice.

Every morning for the past week or so, I have woken up to Rufus crying and nudging me. Now, before I installed the kitty door, this is pretty much how my life went every morning, which is why I installed the damn door in the first place. I was having a hard time understanding why he had started this infernal behavior again until I noticed that his food and water bowls were empty. Completely empty. Every morning. Even if I had filled them only eight hours before.
Now, Rufus has a good appetite, but he is more of a snacker than a binge eater. He will go to his bowl and grab a few nibbles every so often and then walk away. I have never in my four and a half years of cat ownership seen him eat an entire bowl of food in one sitting, except for that one time when I went on a business trip for three days and he somehow got locked outside. Yeah, he was pissed. And hungry.
This morning, I awoke again to crying and nudging. But this time, there was a huge pile of dirt and grime in front of the ominous empty food and water bowls. Shit. What kind of animal could possibly track that much filth into my house? My guess was that it was an entire pack of squirrels, an opossum or another cat. I’m just wondering how I can catch the culprit, as it seems to be very wily.
My friend Matthew’s guess is that it is a racoon. Shit.

David Wain is the cutest. Seriously. This was the fourth or fifth time that I have seen him in person and he is always so wonderously hilarious. You should go see Role Models, his new film with Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott and Jane Lynch. It’s hilarious; I’ve already seen it twice.

Today I realized that I am a terrible conversationalist because I can’t remember anything. I’m serious. Hilarious things happen to me all the time, but I have such a craptastic short term memory that I draw a complete blank when forced into conversation with other humans. Then I realized that there is this handy dandy thing called the world wide web that may be able to help me with that problem. Or not. Either way, it will give me an excuse to document innane details of my everyday life. Joy.
